LA native and co-founder of Elephant In The Room has just dropped his second project titled The Clarity. What I think deserves some attention right off the bat is how many songs the mixtape holds. In today’s world, most artists deliver a project and it will host 6, 7, maybe 8 songs if were lucky. With this dude, that is just not the case. The new project hosts 20 tracks and features production from Cali, NY, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, UK, and Iceland. Talk about an eclectic mix of production. With that being said, it takes more then just some dope beats to make a tape that people will enjoy and respect. I can whole heartedly say that every track on this project is not only a good listen, but on a level that most artists attempt to attain but don’t ever reach (as I also said about AELi). No disrespect to other artists (rappers) out there, but J. Hurt lyrically is at a level you can’t even fathom. To compliment that statement, it seems that all the artists in the EiTR collective (J. Hurt, AELi, Casual Jamar, Katori Walker, Ibn Inglor, Ouja Marek, Galore Flower Child, & Kiwan) are on a similar level. Granted a few of those guys are producers, but they’re level of production is one that matches the other guys lyrical skills. I don’t know how they all came to meet and form, but there is definitely something stirring in that crew that is going to lead them somewhere truly special. As J. Hurt said the other day, “The room’s movin”. When he said that I thought it was a perfect description of where they are at right now, all’s they’re waiting on now is for all you good people to stop sleepin, so set the alarm and wake up, I know they would appreciate it.
