Supreme Cuts & Haleek Maul – The Dummy ft. Deniro Ferrar

Allow me to introduce y’all to Haleek Maul, a 15 year-old MC hailing from Barbados. Now, this kiddo has some big shoes to fill, following the likes of other Barbadian-American hip hop musicians such as L.L. Cool J, Mr. Lif, Grandmaster Flash, and Afrika Bambaataa. But I’m here to tell you Haleek holds his own. He has quite a flair for creating dark, pensive tracks. Most recently, Haleek has teamed up with Chicago’s super duo Supreme Cuts to create Chrome Lips, a menacing mixtape that gives their broody take on the state of hip hop today. The story goes that Haleek got Austin Keultjes’ (1/2 of Supreme Cuts) number from a buddy at the Disaro label. During their first phone conversation, Austin said, “Just tell us what you’re about.” Without another word, Haleek sat down on his stoop and dropped a freestyle. Austin said he sounded like a grime rapper with an English accent, and loved it. The two bonded over OutKast’s Aquemini, and the rest is history. Featuring a verse from North Carolina’s Deniro Farrar, peep “The Dummy” below. Also, keep a look out for Chrome Lips, dropping August 21st on Mishka.
